2 injured in boat fire near Long Beach
Two people went to a hospital after a small fire broke out Sunday afternoon on their boat in Reynolds Channel near Long Beach, Nassau County police said.
Police said they received a call about 2 p.m. reporting a small fire on a 24-foot private boat with two men and a woman aboard.
One of the men received a burn on his hand, but was able to get the boat back to the Long Beach boat ramp, police said. The woman suffered smoke inhalation.
The man and woman were taken to a hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department, police said.
Police said a mechanical failure appeared to have sparked the fire.
