Nassau police have made two more arrests in the Christmas Day assault of a man in Hempstead.

Jeronimo Wedner, 26, of Elm Avenue, Hempstead, and Alfredo Reyez, 24, of South Franklin Avenue, Hempstead, were charged Friday with assault, gang assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon.

A third man, Omar Lemus, 21, of Elm Avenue, Hempstead, was arrested Dec. 25 in the assault. He is facing the same charges as Reyez and Wedner.

The three men are accused of punching and striking a male victim, 29, who was walking south on High Street in Hempstead. One of the attackers used a machete to cut the victim's left forearm, police said.

Wedner and Reyez were arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. Bail was set at $50,000 cash and $100,000 bond. Lemus' next court appearance is scheduled for April 10.
