2 MTA cops rescue child, adults from fire
Two Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officers rescued three people from a burning building in Westbury early Sunday, the MTA said.
Just a few minutes after midnight, officers Patrick Riedel and Kenneth Wilson came upon a building fire at 249 Post Ave. while on patrol, the MTA said. They requested help from county police and fire rescue and entered the building.
On the third floor, the officers found two adults and a 5-year-old child and got them out safely, the MTA said. All three refused medical aid, the MTA said. The Westbury Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Riedel has been with the MTA police for nine years and Wilson for eight. Both men live in Suffolk County.
