Two people were shot by a group of men Tuesday night in Hempstead, with one of the victims taking at least five rounds, Nassau County police said.

The victims -- a man, 29, and a woman, 23 -- were both listed in stable condition at nearby hospitals after they were shot at about 9:05 p.m. on the corner of Hendrickson and Fulton avenues, police said.

The man was shot at least five times and the woman once, police said.

They had no other details about the injuries.

The gunshots were fired by a group of four men, who after the shooting fled south on Hendrickson Avenue, police said.
