Police are searching for two men, believed to be in their 20s, who attempted to rob a minimart at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in Valley Stream.

The 26-year-old female cashier was not injured in the attempted robbery at A1 Mini Market on Ocean Avenue, Nassau County police said.

Police said the two assailants entered the store at 2:42 p.m. and one flashed a handgun, demanding cash. The other attempted to open the cash register, but couldn't, police said.

The two, one wearing a North Face bubble jacket and gray pants, fled the scene on foot -- heading west on 131st Avenue into Queens, according to police.

No customers were in the store at the time.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
