Two teens were robbed in separate incidents a handful of blocks and just minutes apart in Valley Stream early Thursday evening, Nassau County police said.

In one incident, the robber took an iPhone; an iPod was taken in the other robbery.

Police said they are investigating whether the robberies are related because of their proximity.

The first street robbery occurred at 5:50 p.m. on Rose Avenue when the suspect approached a 15-year-old, "threatened to beat the victim" -- and stole his iPod. The teen was uninjured. The suspect fled onto Mary Street, police said.

A little more than five minutes later, police said a suspect approached a 14-year-old on Boden Avenue -- and grabbed the iPod he was carrying.

The victim ran from the scene after being threatened by the suspect, police said. The suspect fled on Boden.

The two robberies are only about 1/4-mile apart.

In the first, the suspect was described as being about 6-foot-2; in the second, he was described as being 6-foot-4.

Police ask anyone with information about the street robberies to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
