An early-morning accident involving a car and a bread truck has closed down southbound Peninsula Boulevard on Friday, leaving two drivers injured, one seriously, Nassau County police said.
The New York State Department of Transportation reported the accident as a pedestrian being struck by a car.
But police said no pedestrians were injured in the crash, which occurred near the exit ramp from the Southern State Parkway to southbound Peninsula at 5:55 a.m. The ramp leading from Exit 19S on the Southern, as well as southbound Peninsula, remained closed for an investigation at 10:30 a.m. It was not clear when the roads would reopen.
The crash site is along the border of Hempstead, Rockville Centre and Lakeview.
Police said the accident occurred when a car exiting the parkway collided with a bread delivery truck.
A woman, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre with what police called "serious" injuries.
The other driver was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola with non-life-threatening injuries.
