3 accused of selling alcohol to minors

Employees at three Nassau County convenience stores were snared Friday in a sting operation aimed at combating the sale of alcohol to minors, police said.
Arrested were: Belal A. Al-waqedi, 27, of 593 Park Ave., Uniondale, at Levittown Deli, 149-151 Levittown Pkwy., Hicksville; Aliah M. Lofton, 18, of 692 Nostrand Ave., Uniondale, at Wal-Mart Grocery, 3335 Hempstead Tpke., Levittown; and Erick E. Landaverde, 33, of 748 Main St., Farmingdale, at Quick Mart at 756 Main St., South Farmingdale.
Police charged those arrested with unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcoholic beverage after, they said, an underage undercover agent bought alcohol without being properly identified at the stores.
Al-waqedi and Lofton are due to appear on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead. Landaverde was to be arraigned Saturday.
