3 charged in Uniondale robbery try
Three men who used an automatic BB gun early Tuesday to try to rob a man sitting in his car in front of a Uniondale home were arrested on attempted robbery charges, Nassau County police said.
Two of the three men approached the man, 27, in his car on Locust Lane at 1:22 a.m. and demanded money, police said. One of them pointed a black handgun at the man in the car, and the man drove away, police said.
The victim called police and gave a description of the two men, who later were found with a third man, sitting in a car on Front Street. A black BB gun was found in the car, police said.
Arrested were:
Patrick J. Knight Jr., 22, of 15 Wilson Place, Roosevelt, on charges of attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana.
James Morgan, 21, of 600 Davis Ave., Uniondale, on charges of attempted robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Jeffrey Saperstein, 22, of 131 Hamlet Rd., Levittown, on charges of attempted robbery and possession of a weapon.
Police said all three were charged with attempted robbery because one of the men was acting as a driver.
All three men were to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
