3 face arson charges in March car fire

Three people, two of them teens, were arrested Thursday and charged with setting on fire a car belonging to another teen in late March in Syosset, police said.
The trio set fire to the interior of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra between 5 and 6 p.m. on March 29, causing more than $2,000 worth of damage, Nassau County police said.
It was not clear where the incident took place. It also was not clear how the three men knew the 18-year-old victim.
Police said no one was injured.
After an investigation, police arrested Jasheer Kareem, 17, of 115 Oyster Bay Rd., Syosset, Brian Weiss, 17, of 19 Roberta Lane, Syosset, and Sulaiman Wardak, 20, of 72 Winthrop Ct., Woodbury, on Thursday, charging each with third-degree arson.
All three are scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
