3 hurt, 2 arrested in Inwood bar melee
Two men were arrested and a third is being sought after an assault on three other men during a melee outside an Inwood bar early Saturday morning, Nassau police said.
The assault took place in the parking lot of Carisma on Mott Avenue, police said, and apparently started with a large commotion in the bar's parking lot.
A 34-year-old man was set upon as he left the bar at 4:47 a.m., police said. He was hit in the face and head and knocked down by two men. As he lay on the ground, a third man hit him with a tire iron, police said. Officers arriving on the scene found two other assault victims, ages 23 and 32.
Two men were arrested in the assault -- Osvaldo Bonilla, 20, of Lawrence, and Richey Rodriguez, 23, of Inwood.
All three victims were taken to hospitals. The 34-year-old victim was treated for a fractured rib and released, and the 32-year-old was treated and released for numerous cuts and bruises. The 23-year-old remains in critical condition with blunt force trauma to his torso.
Bonilla was charged with second-degree assault, while Rodriguez -- who police said had struggled with officers upon his arrest -- was charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Both men were scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
