Three students filming in Great Neck Plaza with movie prop guns that fire blanks were arrested and given appearance tickets for filming without a permit after police responded, a Nassau County police spokeswoman said.

“They were doing a student film with fake guns. We didn’t know it at the time,” the spokeswoman said. “They didn’t have a permit to do that particular filming.”

The incident occurred in a parking lot on Maple Street on Friday afternoon, police said.

The three students, who were not identified, were given appearance tickets to appear at Great Neck Plaza Village Court, police said Sunday.
