Latest 7-Eleven robbery may be part of pattern, Nassau police say
The robbery of a Rockville Centre 7-Eleven early Wednesday is being investigated as part of a string of related pattern robberies, police said.
Nassau County police said investigators are "looking at the same subject being responsible for multiple robberies." Those robberies -- at least eight in all -- date back to last month.
The latest robbery took place at the 7-Eleven on Merrick Road at 3:37 a.m.
Police said the suspect entered the store, demanded money from the employees and fled with an unspecified amount of cash. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as being about 5-foot-8 with a thin build. He wore a black, hooded jacket, tan sweatpants and black shoes, police said.
Investigators believe that same person is responsible for a string of similar robberies that include the holdup of an East Meadow delicatessen last week, as well as robberies of convenience stores and other 7-Elevens in Merrick, Freeport, Valley Stream and West Hempstead in recent weeks.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
