It doesn't look like there will be snow for Christmas this year, but the day after Christmas could be a different story.
Forecasters say there is the "potential for a significant storm" Sunday afternoon into Monday, courtesy of low pressure from the southeastern coast. A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service midafternoon Wednesday cautioned that there is "quite a bit of uncertainty with the exact track and timing" of the storm.
"It's a little too early for us to be forecasting how much snow we could get," meteorologist Joe Pollina, of the National Weather Service in Upton, said Wednesday.
Christmas Day is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 38, forecasters said.
The chance of snow on Sunday was 30 percent; Monday, 50 percent. According to the latest statement by the National Weather Service, based on the latest forecast track, all precipitation would come in the form of snow and strong gusts of winds are possible.
