Southern State Parkway in North Merrick reopens after accident

An accident closed the eastbound Southern State Parkway in North Merrick for nearly four hours, until about 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The westbound parkway from Exit 24 to 25 was then closed briefly at about 9:30 a.m. for an accident investigation, according to State Police.

The accident on the eastbound parkway, involving an overturned vehicle, occurred at about 5:30 a.m., according to informny.com, closing the parkway from Exit 23 to 24 until just after 9 a.m.

No other information was immediately available.
