One man suffered minor injuries Friday when his sport utility vehicle overturned on the eastbound Southern State Parkway in South Farmingdale, a State Police spokesman said.
The two-car crash was between Exits 31 and 32 on the parkway at 8:37 a.m.
The accident caused massive delays to eastbound traffic, as State Police closed the center and left lanes. That traffic was still at standstill at 10:15 a.m.
Police said a tow truck was on scene and they expected all lanes would be reopened before 10:30 a.m.
Police said the driver of the overturned SUV was "initially trapped, conscious and communicative." He was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, police said.
Troopers also responded to a car fire on the Sagtikos-Sunken Meadow Parkway north of Pine Aire Drive in Brentwood Friday morning.
That incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. No injuries were reported, police said.
