Accident closes Southern State near Queens
A multiple-car accident, including a vehicle that overturned, closed down the westbound Southern State Parkway Wednesday at the Queens border, officials said.
The NYPD and FDNY are handling the scene, State police said. No information on injuries was readily available.
The crash occurred at 12:21 p.m., the state Department of Transportation said. Traffic camera footage showed an overturned vehicle on a grassy shoulder area -- and skid marks leading to it.
The crash caused traffic backups westbound on the parkwayin Nassau. It was not clear how long the scene would be active and the lanes closed.
