An accident on the Long Island Expressway in Melville closed two westbound lanes for about 90 minutes during Monday's morning commute.

Officials said the accident was between exits 48 and 49 and happened shortly before 5 a.m.

The roadway was cleared and the lanes were reopened at about 6:30 a.m., officials said.

A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said early indications seem that the accident did not cause serious injuries.

She had no other details.

The state Department of Transportation website, informny.com, said the accident happened at 4:54 a.m. and closed two lanes.

Traffic was backed up for several exits during the closure, according to cameras at informny.com.
