Businessman Adam Haber, who ran a Democratic primary race for Nassau County executive last year, registered a campaign committee Thursday for the State Senate seat held by Jack Martins (R-Mineola).

"I am exploring all of my options and the best way to serve my community," said Haber, who largely self-financed his last candidacy. "This is the first step in that process." County Democratic chairman Jay Jacobs said he expects Haber to run and "make an excellent candidate."

Martins' spokesman, Chris Schneider, called the senator a fighter for district residents, adding: "We're confident that they will continue to appreciate his efforts on their behalf regardless of who his opponent is."
