Albertson floral shop robbed
An Albertson floral shop employee who heard someone pushing cash register keys from a back room and went to investigate from ended up bound with floral ribbon and robbed, police said.
The incident took place at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday in Diva Florist on Willis Avenue.
The employee, 27, was not hurt, but she told police that she found a man in the shop who picked out flowers and then asked if she could make change for $100.
As the woman called her employer to ask about making change, the man took out the handgun, pointed it at her and forced her into the back room, where he bound her hands and feet with ribbon, police said. He then took cash, a phone and camera and fled.
Nassau police said they are searching for the gunman, described as in his late teens or early 20s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build and short, dark, curly hair. He was wearing a light-colored T-shirt and had a black handgun.
