A Nassau police ambulance transporting a patient to a hospital collided head-on in Valley Stream with another vehicle whose driver was subsequently arrested, police said Thursday.

Those injured in the accident were transported to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The ambulance was traveling north on Franklin Avenue in the vicinity of Emerson Place at 6:54 p.m. when the collision took place, police said.

Information concerning the arrested driver and charges were not immediately available from Nassau police.
