A Seaford woman was killed Thursday when the car she was driving careened off the Wantagh State Parkway, crashing into a tree off the shoulder of the road in Wantagh, police said.
State Police identified the victim as Amy Giunta, 43, and said she died at the scene. Police said she was alone in the vehicle.
Witnesses told police they had seen the car, a black Cadillac DTS sedan, traveling at a high speed on the northbound parkway before it crossed several lanes and left the roadway about 8:48 a.m.
The crash closed the road for about two hours between Sunrise Highway and the Southern State Parkway, police said.
