Andre Christmas arrested after returning to scene of a theft, police say
He loaded a shopping cart with more than $2,400 worth of over-the-counter medicines, then, without paying for them, wheeled it out of a Pathmark store on Merrick Road in Seaford on Saturday, police said.
Nassau County police detectives were at the store Sunday when the same man returned and tried to steal another $1,000 in goods, police said.
The suspect, Andre Christmas, 57, of 1234 Pembroke St., Uniondale, was arrested at 11:35 a.m. as he attempted to flee the scene in a taxi cab, police said.
He was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said an investigation revealed that Christmas is also a suspect in thefts at a Stop & Shop store on West Old Country Road in Hicksville on July 9 and at a Pathmark on Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage on July 20. It was not immediately clear what was stolen.
