Police: Teens stole wallet from parked car in Cedarhurst
Two teens were arrested Friday afternoon after they stole a wallet from a parked car in Cedarhurst, Nassau County police said.
Police said Andre Palmer, 17, of 14 Roger Ave., Inwood, and Raytawon Wright, 17, of 307 Madison Ave., Cedarhurst, entered a vehicle parked on Oceanpoint Avenue about 2:15 p.m., removed a wallet and rode off on their bicycles after noticing the victim watching them.
The victim called 911 and a radio broadcast notification was made. A Fourth Precinct police officer saw Palmer and Wright at the intersection of Park and Linwood avenues and stopped both of them, police said.
According to police, Wright was stopped, but Palmer rode his bicycle around the police vehicle and continued west on Park Avenue. He was ordered to stop multiple times, but didn't. The officer put out a radio notification, and Palmer was found on Pearsall Avenue, police said.
The victim's wallet, New York State driver's license and cash were recovered.
Palmer and Wright were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and are scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
