For the second time in two days, a person walking home from a local high school was robbed in Valley Stream, police said.

Nassau County police said the latest victim, 20, was walking home from Valley Stream Central High School on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Two men approached him, and one grabbed him by the neck and pulled him to the ground, police said.

The robbers began "punching and kicking the victim in the face and head," then took property from the victim before fleeing east on McKeon Avenue, police said. It was not immediately clear if the victim was a student.

The robbery comes less than 24 hours after a 16-year-old boy was robbed near the corner of Central and West Jamaica Avenue. That victim was struck from behind in the jaw and knocked to the ground, police said. Police said the robber took cash and a cell phone.

Police did not say if the two incidents are related. Both occurred near Central Avenue.

But detectives are asking anyone with information regarding either crime to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.

All calls will remain confidential, police said.
