Armed robbery at Wendy's in East Garden City

Two men, one with a gun, robbed a fast-food restaurant in East Garden City early Saturday, ordering all the employees into a back office before taking money from a safe, Nassau County police said.

A 21-year-old male employee of the Wendy's restaurant, at 820 Old Country Rd. was throwing out garbage at 12:45 a.m. when two men approached, pushing their way into the restaurant, police said.

The men, one of whom displayed a black handgun, ordered the man and the other four employees into a back office before removing money from the safe, police said.

The suspects then fled, police said. No one was reported injured.

The armed suspect was described as being in his 20s, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. The second suspect was described as 19 years old, 5 feet tall, and 140 pounds.
