Armed robbery in Elmont strips man of belongings
A 55-year-old man was stripped of his belongings, forced to kneel and then struck in the head with a handgun during a robbery Saturday night in Elmont, Nassau County police said.
The assault occurred about 9:30 p.m. as the victim was walking on Greenway Boulevard near Norfolk Drive East. That's when two men got out of a car and approached him with a gun, police said.
The suspects took the victim's cigarettes, shoulder bag, wallet and phone, police said, before they got into a waiting car that drove off heading west on Cromer Avenue.
The victim was taken to a hospital by Nassau County Police Ambulance and treated for his injury.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
