Armed with stun gun, robbers take jewels
Two robbers, one with a stun gun, held up a 65-year-old man at a Franklin Square jewelry store Tuesday morning and left with a knapsack full of jewelry, Nassau police said.
Posing as customers, the two entered Luchie Capri Jewelers on Hempstead Turnpike about 9:40 a.m. but soon pulled the gun out and pointed it at the man, the lone employee, police said.
The suspects grabbed from the counter a nearby knapsack containing jewelry and ran away on foot west on Hempstead Turnpike, then south on Williams Street, police said.
There were no injuries, police said.
The first male was described as having a heavy build, 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said. The second one was described as 6 feet tall, wearing dark pants and a black sweatshirt, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
