A Queens man was arrested Friday and charged with attempting to burglarize a Valley Stream home, Nassau police said.

Nicholas S. Bennett, 22, of 249-29 Mayda Rd., Rosedale, was to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court, Hempstead, on the charge of second degree attempted burglary.

Bennett was seen ringing a door bell of a home on Broadway about 12:17 p.m., police said, and then, along with a second man, going to the rear of the house.

When police arrived to investigate, Bennett, who appeared to be acting as a lookout at the front of the house, fled, leading officers on a foot pursuit until he was captured in the vicinity of Elm Street and 112th Avenue.

The second man was not apprehended at the scene, police said, and their investigation is continuing.
