Detectives are investigating the attempted burglary at an Oceanside grocery store early Saturday, Nassau County police said.

An unidentified man broke a window at the S & S Grocery Mart at 403 Merrick Rd. at 2:08 a.m., then tried unsuccessfully to pry open the security gate on the opposite side of the window, police said. The man left the scene on foot, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 800-244-TIPS.
