A verbal argument led to a stabbing inside a Baldwin bar on Thursday that left the victim with a neck wound requiring stitches, police said.

Nassau County police said investigators are searching for a suspect.

The attack occurred at the Oasis Bar on Brooklyn Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. It was not clear what sparked the incident, which police said began with "a verbal argument" -- then led to a stabbing.

During the argument, police said the suspect "withdrew a steak knife" and stabbed the victim in the neck, causing "a large laceration and heavy bleeding." The suspect then fled the scene, police said.

The victim was driven to the hospital.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the assault to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
