Auto body shop fire closes Farmingdale roads

Firefighters battling a fire at a Farmingdale auto body shop have closed several major thoroughfares in the area, Nassau County police said Tuesday afternoon.

The closures include northbound Carmans Road at Route 24; East Main Street at Route 24; and Route 109 at Route 110. Police say the streets are all closed due to a "large fire."

The call for the fire, at Rudy's Auto Body shop, came in shortly after 3 p.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Details such as the cause of the fire and whether anyone is hurt were not immediately available.
