A 42-year-old man died early Saturday after his car struck a utility pole in Baldwin, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The crash was reported at 5:12 a.m. after the driver lost control of his 2025 Mazda while heading north on Grand Avenue near Ethel T. Kloberg Drive, authorities said in a news release.

Police did not say in the release what caused the driver to lose control. There were no passengers, according to the news release.

The driver was seriously injured and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

A department spokesperson did not confirm the victim's identity Saturday afternoon, and officials said an investigation is continuing.
