Baldwin man faces DWI charges
A Baldwin man faces drunken driving charges after being stopped Wednesday for weaving in and out of traffic on the Southern State Parkway in North Amityville, State Police said.
At about 6:50 p.m., a trooper was dispatched to the parkway near Exit 32, Route 110, in response to a report of an erratic driver, according to a news release.
The trooper then pulled over a black Kia that was weaving in and out of lanes of eastbound traffic without signaling, police said.
During an interview with the driver, Michael Derner, 44, of 84 Allen Pl., the trooper noticed a strong odor of alcohol, the release said.
Derner failed sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with DWI. He produced a breath-analyzer sample of .11 percent, the release said.
Derner was charged with DWI and traffic violations. He is due to appear March 3 in First District Court in Central Islip.
