Baldwin woman in sex case is hospitalized
The sentencing of a Baldwin woman who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing her daughter's 13-year-old boyfriend was delayed because she was hospitalized, according to her lawyer.
Joan Tuckruskye, 46, who was a member of her school district's PTA, pleaded guilty in April to a charge of second-degree criminal sex act.
She was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday by state Supreme Court Justice William Donnino. But in the early morning hours, she was taken from county jail to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for an undisclosed reason, said her lawyer, Brian Griffin of Garden City.
She remained hospitalized Friday.
Tuckruskye was arrested in December 2008 when police stopped by Meadow Elementary School in Baldwin to investigate a Nissan Pathfinder with its engine running. Inside they found Tuckruskye and the boy, both naked from the waist down.
If convicted at trial, Tuckruskye faced 21/3 to 7 years in prison. Griffin declined to say if his client had been promised a lesser sentence in return for her guilty plea.
The sentencing was adjourned until July 15, according to the Nassau County district attorney's office.
