Bellmore school district
VOTING
7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at C.A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $33,582,394 budget for 2015-16, a 1.01 percent increase from the current $33,246,182 budget. The local tax levy would rise 2.27 percent, from $23,550,746 to $24,085,348.
The increase is within the state's tax-cap limit of 2.33 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family home would increase 1.4 percent, from $4,418 to $4,482. The proposed budget includes estimated salary increases for teachers, subject to negotiations. School programs and staffing are maintained at current levels.
