A 22-year-old man was struck and killed early Saturday morning when he attempted to cross the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Bethpage, police said.

The driver of a 2004 Toyota 4Runner was heading south on the expressway when he hit the pedestrian, Christopher Brown of Farmingdale, about 3:45 a.m. near Exit 7 for Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County police said.

Brown suffered multiple trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver remained there for questioning and the Toyota was impounded for a safety check.

Police did not provide more details on the investigation.
