A 62-year-old woman was sleeping in her Bethpage home Wednesday when an intruder entered her bedroom, but she chased him out the back door, Nassau police said Thursday.

The woman heard a noise about 5:09 p.m. in her Millpage Drive home and a short time later, a man walked in, police said. She yelled and chased him through the house, police said, and the intruder jumped a back fence and fled toward Stewart Avenue.

He had already stolen her jewelry and money, police said.

The suspect was described as a thin man wearing a black baseball cap with the New York Mets emblem, about 28 to 30 years old, and between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 877-244-TIPS.
