Bicyclist, 88, hit by car, injured
An 88-year-old man was thrown from his bicycle and suffered a serious head injury when he was hit by a car in Wantagh Tuesday afternoon, Nassau police said.
Detectives said the man was riding his bicycle on Briard Street and Carrollton Avenue at 2:10 p.m. when he was struck by a car being driven by a 62-year-old man.
The injured man was thrown from the bike and suffered a head injury. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Police said a brake test on the vehicle was conducted at the scene, and no criminality is suspected at this time.
