A bicyclist was in serious condition after being hit by a car in East Hills Sunday afternoon, Nassau police said.

Third Squad detectives are investigating the accident that occurred at about 4:20 p.m. as the car's driver, a 34-year-old man from Forest Hills, was going west on Old Westbury Road.

Police said the man, driving a 2008 BMW, hit the 51-year-old bicyclist, "ejecting" him from his bicycle. The BMW than hit a telephone pole and overturned multiple times, police said.

The bicyclist was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. His condition could not be determined Sunday night, a police spokeswoman said.

The driver refused medical attention at the scene. His BMW was impounded for a brake and safety check, with detectives still investigating the cause of the crash, police said.
