The Nassau County Health Department has closed Biltmore Beach Club in Massapequa to swimming because of elevated bacterial levels.

The moves comes days after the department lifted an advisory against swimming at four North Shore beaches.

On June 15, the department said storm-water runoff from heavy rains could elevate bacteria levels at Creek Club in Lattingtown, North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, Piping Rock Beach Club in Locust Valley and Laurel Hollow Beach. The advisory was lifted on June 16.

For recorded information on beach closings and openings in Nassau, call 516-227-9700. Health department representatives are available weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., at 516-227-9717.
