The Navy's top-flight aerial acrobatics group is coming back to Long Island, officials said.

The Blue Angels have put Jones Beach on their 2014 calendar for Memorial Day Weekend, May 24 and 25. They will perform 65 shows in 34 locations nationwide throughout the year.

The group had suspended shows in 2013 because of federal budget cuts, which are known as the budget sequestration, and remain in effect.

"Community outreach is key to connecting Americans to the military," the Blue Angels' commanding officer and flight leader, Cmdr. Thomas Frosch, said in a news release announcing the shows. "Our performances provide a unique opportunity to inspire millions to connect with and support our service members, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2014 season."

The team's season begins March 15 at Naval Air Facility in El Centro, Calif., and ends Nov. 8, 2014, at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.
