Traffic on an East Meadow street was being diverted through a shopping center parking lot Friday morning because of a water main break, police and water department officials said.

It is unclear how long the situation would take to repair.

The break is on westbound Front Street, about 100 feet west of Merrick Avenue.

Traffic was being routed through a Waldbaum's shopping center lot, Nassau County police said. The water main break was causing delays in the area.

A Town of Hempstead East Meadow Water District official was not immediately available for comment.
