Burglar breaks into Kings Point home
A sleeping elderly man in Kings Point woke up to a burglar trying to open the bedroom door, Nassau police said.
Upon seeing the man, who is 82, the burglar fled. Detectives from the Manhasset-based Sixth Squad, which is investigating the case, have no suspects and describe the burglar only as a man dressed in all black wearing a black ski mask, a police spokeswoman said.
Police gave this account:The burglary happened Tuesday at about 7:11 p.m. on Rogers Road. The burglar pushed in a locked back door. The victim was asleep at the time. The burglar then tried to open the locked bedroom door. That's when the victim, jolted awake by the burglar's noise, got up and saw a man rummaging through the desk with a flash light.
Detectives don't yet know whether the thief fled with any goods because the victim is still trying to determine what, if anything, was taken.
