A burning car on the Long Island Expressway in New Hyde Park closed two lanes and slowed eastbound traffic to a crawl for several miles Tuesday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A car caught fire at about 8:47 a.m. and closed the center and left lanes at Exit 33, New Hyde Park Road, the DOT said on its website.

No other information was immediately available.
