Cabdriver robbed at gunpoint in New Cassel, police say
A cabdriver who went to New Cassel to pick up a passenger was robbed by a gunman Wednesday night, Nassau police said.
The victim, 36, who works for Centro American Taxi, went to Dogwood Lane about 11:20 p.m. for a fare, but a robber opened the cab's rear and pointed a gun at him, police said.
The driver handed over some cash to the robber, who then ran off west on Dogwood, police said.
The suspect appeared to be 6 feet tall, about 170 pounds and wore a black ski hat and a gray shirt, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
