Campaign cash is flowing on Long Island's East End as Republicans line up to take on Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) in this year's election. New filings to the Federal Election Commission show Bishop and two Republicans in the 1st District have raised a total of $870,344 in 2009's last quarter and have accumulated $2 million cash for campaigns. For perspective: In all of 2008, Bishop and his GOP opponent spent $1.4 million. The filings show Bishop: $383,073 raised, $1,029,915 cash; Republicans George Demos: $301,828 raised, $282,192 cash; and Randy Altschuler: $185,443 raised, $778,085 cash.
