For the second time in two days, the same West Hempstead bank was robbed, Nassau County police said Wednesday.

The Capital One Bank at 611 Hempstead Tpke. was robbed at about 9:48 a.m. Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said. The robber got money, then ran away through the parking lot toward Nassau Boulevard, police said.

Six employees and two customers were at the bank, but no injuries were reported, police said.

The same bank was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash at about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said.

In that robbery, a man verbally demanded cash from one of the tellers, police said.

After he was given the cash, police said, the suspect left in a light-colored car, heading east toward Hempstead Turnpike. There were five employees and one customer in the bank during that robbery, police said.

Detectives believe the robberies were committed by two different suspects, police said.

The suspect in Wednesday's robbery appeared to be 35 to 40 years old and about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, police said. He had a medium build and was wearing a beige baseball cap with a colored bill; a dark, button-down shirt; and dark pants, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
