Car found abandoned with stolen items

When a Sea Cliff woman was awakened by her cat early Tuesday, she found a sliding glass door open in her kitchen and thought a family member had left it open by mistake. She locked the door and went back to bed, police said.

It turns out the open door was the work of a burglar, Nassau County's Sixth Squad said.

Police said a burglar struck the home at about 3:30 a.m. and made off with the woman's car and an assortment of electronics, including a laptop computer, television and three cameras.

Glen Cove Police phoned the woman at about 4:25 a.m., informing her that her 2010 Honda Accord was in an accident on Landing Road.

The car was abandonded with the items from her home inside, police said. The woman then discovered a window in the living room had been opened, police said.
