A Maryland man was seriously injured late Tuesday when he was struck by a car while crossing Old Country Road near Zeckendorf Boulevard in Carle Place, police said.
Nassau County police said the accident occurred just east of the intersection at 11:46 p.m. The man, identified only as a 28-year-old from Potomac, Md., was taken to a hospital with what police described as "multiple traumas."
He was in serious but stable condition early Wednesday morning, police said.
The driver of the car, identified as a 55-year-old man from Bethpage, was not injured.
Police said a brake test was performed on the car, a 2010 Toyota, and said no criminality was involved in the accident.
The road was closed for several hours, but has reopened.
